Lighthouses, as many of you know have been a popular subject for a very long time. After having several request that I do a print of one of our North Carolina light houses, I decided to paint and print this view of Cape Hatteras. Of the many pictures and prints that I have seen of Cape Hatteras and other lighthouses, most were not views as seen from the ocean. Therefore, I chose to do this scene from an old fishing boat heading in at the end of a day at sea. After all, the main purpose for the lighthouse is to guide the boats and ships safely down the coast line. When this print is framed and hung in a dimly lit
room, the lite ctually appeares to glow. To this day, I'm not sure how I did that! It makes a great piece of art for your home or office. Order yours today.

While vacationing along the South Carolina coast, I found this terrific beach house on Pawleys Island. Houses like these on our coast line are fast disappearing and being replaced by condos and high-rise buildings. This place brings back so many memories of going to the beach when I was a young girl. In those days, having air conditioning was a rare occurrence. So, the windows and doors were opened wide. You could feel the ocean breeze blowing through the house all day and night. Hearing the ocean waves hitting the beach at night was so relaxing. These days people buy cds with ocean sounds for that effect. It was a time when folks were not afraid to leave the windows and doors open even at night. Unfortunately, we can't say that these days. My family stayed in a house much like this one when we went to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Sometimes it was so hot we would pull the mattresses out on the porch and sleep. This was great. It was just like sleeping right on the beach. Now that's a memory I will always cherish. Hang this piece in your home or affice and let it take you away on a beach vacation.
